Welcome Back to Press Release Corner

Posted: January 13, 2012 in Uncategorized

With the explosion of recent UFC events, this ongoing section has dropped off the radar for a while as the news they were dropping was so significant it required individual posts. Luckily, they have slowed down (for now) and we can digest some corporate announcements they have issued over the last few weeks/months.

  • 1/6: STRIKEFORCE CEO Scott Coker released the following statement regarding Cris “Cyborg” Santos and the recent announcement from the California State Athletic Commission:
“STRIKEFORCE has not seen the test results regarding Ms. Santos. However, we have a consistent and strong stance against any use of performance-enhancing drugs.  We also have a long history of supporting effective drug testing of athletes by authorized regulatory bodies. Therefore, we will closely monitor the matter and will work with the California State Athletic Commission regarding any information we may be asked to provide. We also recognize that Ms. Santos has administrative process rights under California law and we hope that she is not prejudged before she has the opportunity to exercise such rights.”
  • 12/27: MetroPCS and UFC Announce Partnership
The Ultimate Fighting Championship® announced that MetroPCS is now the exclusive wireless partner of the UFC® in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The multi-year sponsorship agreement includes MetroPCS signage at all domestic UFC events, a presence in UFC Pay-Per-View event broadcasts, fighter endorsements and appearances, retail promotions and UFC branded MetroPCS products. MetroPCS will also deliver exclusive video and other mobile content to fans, such as highlights of the week, UFC personality profiles, special segments and more.
  • 12/19: UFC Events Coming to Xbox LIVE
For the first time, Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE deliver all the heart-pounding UFC action you crave. Purchase Pay-Per-View events in stunning HD, compete with friends in an exclusive fight prediction game, measure your success via friends leaderboards, access the interactive Fight Card, and view pre-fight weigh-ins, press conferences and previews live or through an expansive on-demand video catalogue, only on Xbox 360.

We are just at the beginning of 2012 and the UFC is already cranking out top partnerships that will continue to drive consumer interest in the sport.  Stay tuned for more, I’m sure this is just the beginning of another wild ride in MMA.
