UFC Continues to Dominate Facebook

Although you may think I would touch upon the fact that UFC Primetime is extending from Spike TV to ESPN 2 “The Deuce”, however instead I’m more interested in the UFC’s work on Facebook. (Maybe I’d be more impressed if it weren’t essentially on The Ocho).

The UFC continues to be a social marketing juggernaut.  Based on the successes of previous Facebook airings, Dana White had promised that fans would soon be able to see every single fight on a UFC card.   The man is many things, but he is not a liar. The UFC announced that every bout of UFC 129 will be aired including five preliminary bouts that will be streamed for free on Facebook. (Two bouts will be aired on SPIKE TV just prior to the PPV).

Fans that “like” UFC on Facebook will see:

  • Claude Patrick vs. Daniel Roberts
  • Ivan Menjivar vs. Charlie Valencia
  • Jason MacDonald vs. Ryan Jensen
  • John Makdessi vs. Kyle Watson
  • Pablo Garza vs. Yves Jabouin

In addition to this news, the UFC continues its relationship with THQ and has issued a sweepstakes surrounding its Facebook based version of “Undisputed.”  The contest winner includes a shot at a UFC 131 PPV Weekend package.

Official Interactive Facebook Game Provides Players with Chance To Win Multiple UFC-Themed Prizes

THQ Inc. and Zuffa, LLC today announced a consumer sweepstakes surrounding UFC® 131: LESNAR vs. DOS SANTOS via UFC® Undisputed Fight Nation™, the official Facebook game based on the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) organization, the Ultimate Fighting Championship®. Available for download at http://apps.facebook.com/ufcfightnation, players may enter the sweepstakes through an on-screen pop-up display after training moves and competing against others with their virtual UFC fighters to reach Level 5 within the game.

One grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to UFC 131, currently scheduled for June 11, 2011 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.  The trip includes two tickets to UFC 131, roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations and a stipend for meals and/or spending money.  One first prize winner will receive an autographed UFC poster and a $250 UFC gift certificate for use on ufcstore.com, while 10 second-prize winners will receive $50 UFC gift certificates for use on ufcstore.com.
