Mixed Martial Arts coming to Syfy

Yes, that SyFy.  After dabbling in professional Wrestling with WWE’s ECW and then NXT, the SyFy network will be jumping into the broadcast pool of Mixed Martial Arts.

SyFy now joins SPIKE, VS, MTV2, Showtime, ION and CBS as cable networks bringing MMA to fans. For this venture, SyFy will be tapping into the British MMA scene.  From what the UFC has shown us in The Ultimate Fighter series, Great Britain has a number of top MMA schools and should provide some great fights for casual and hardcore fans alike.

Now, because it is on SyFy I can’t help but wonder about some super fights this network could air:

  • Captain Mal of Firefly vs Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod
  • The Cylon of the new BSG vs. The old Cylon of the original BSG
  • The Tron guy vs. The Running Man
