Welcome to Mixed Marketing Arts!

You’re probably wondering what the heck is Mixed Marketing Arts?  Well, let me tell you.  Mixed martial arts (MMA) is the world’s fastest growing sport and to be the best, its athletes have to have a mixed collection of skills ranging from wrestling, boxing, karate, and jujitsu among others.

In the world of marketing executives have to be just as diverse.  No longer can you just rely on advertising, direct mail pieces or (ugh) telemarketers.  In today’s world there are just too many ways to reach people in order to get your message out there.  From traditional publicity methods such as television and newspapers to social media avenues such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, etc.  In order to be the very best you have to be well versed in all of these areas.  In essence, you have to become a mixed marketing artist.

To answer your next question, why am I focusing on this?  Because for me this is the crossroads of my two passions. I am a HUGE MMA fan and work in the field of public relations.  My goal in this blog is to look beyond the elbows and rear naked chokes and take a deeper look at the world of marketing that surrounds the MMA universe.  I have been a fan of the sport since before the epic rise of The Ultimate Fighter reality show and have been amazed at not only how the sport has grown, but by the caliber of attention it has received by the media and by corporate sponsors.

In addition to looking at the do’s and don’ts of marketing within the MMA community I’ll also be doing what I can to explore the MMA community within New England.  There are a lot of talented martial artists around you and you may not even know it.
